I love spring. I love babies even more then spring! Here is a sweet 9 mos. old, digging into the strawberries! Yep, they are fake. I would NEVER let a 9 mos. old, in a white sweater, mind you, grab strawberries! Isn't she just darling???

Lourdes Central Catholic High School, here in Nebraska City, NE will be presenting Guys and Dolls on April 30, May 1 and 2nd.

Being the crazy photographer that I am, I hang out watching the kids while they rehearse night after night, and try to capture their funny moments as well as their serious "acting" moments.

Our daughter plays Sarah Brown, the "Save a Soul" missionary who tries to save the souls of the local band of gamblers.

It is a fun show, lots of singing and dancing! You would never believe that our little school could put on such fantastic productions, but we do, thanks to our Music Director and fearless leader, Lesley Gould!

Did I mention we have a live pit too? We have bragging rights on that one. We are a class D1 School.. sometimes.

My new studio space is coming right along so I wanted to make sure you all see the progress! The sub floor!

I have a new found appreciation for carpenters. I have never done this work before. No thank you. I might start sweating.

What happened? Well, this is MY sacred space. I want to see it finished sooner rather then later. So I said the words to Ken, "What can I do to help?"

Here's what I learned.

Newly sawed wood smells so good!

Sawdust is also in my throat as a direct result breathing in that scent.

I can hold a giant glue gun and make it work.

Ear plugs are my friends. They go in tiny and slowly grow. Weird.

I am getting pretty good at placing tongue and groove osb furring strips. (fancy name for a floor!)

I had NO idea that a ramset can shoot 1 1/2" nails into 4000 lbs concrete. Marvellous!

Knee pads. Necessary friends for someone on their knees using the ultra cool Ramset that smells like fireworks.

Boots, our studio cat. She is a constant companion, with lots of opinions.

THE Ramset tool, a chalk box that also is completely amazing...whack! whack! you have a line! And a diet coke. Essential.

The front, which used to have a garage door! This will be painted and a front door will be hung. SO much wonderful light that will come in and play!

Oh Boots. I love you.

Hollie:

Construction, yet another talent of Mary Pargett - you continue to amaze me, girl! And I believe you are probably the only person in the world who can make a can of diet coke look so attractive. Congrats on your new addition! I hope we can see it in person soon. :-)

Tammy:

Love it! Congrats - can't wait to see it all completed. Need to hire a helper??!

Ruth:

Mary,
I think you see the poetry in everything. This is going to be beautiful, and just in time for spring!

Donna:

Mary, You are making me want to get my picture taken. Let's have a Christening of the studio and hit a bottle of wine across something hard but not damage-able - or better yet, just toast to the new space! Congrats on your newfound carpentry skills!

Spring has finally arrived and with it comes the season of First Holy Communion. I do feel so blessed and honored to have a job which captures special moments like these. First Communion doesn't happen TWICE!Susie_1.jpgSusie_2.jpg
